Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at the Priory in Hitchin, I found myself contemplating the balance between luxury and value as an active traveler. While the hotel's picturesque location does offer a charming touch, particularly with its proximity to the town's bustling cafes, my experience left me pondering its worth at around £100 a night. The room was functional, complete with essential amenities like a flat-screen TV and complimentary Wi-Fi. The tired decor was disappointing, and I encountered issues such as a lumpy mattress and minimal soundproofing, making sleep a challenge, especially with noise from adjacent rooms. On the plus side, the bathroom provided free toiletries, adding a small luxury touch. Breakfast was straightforward yet sufficient, and the 24-hour reception made accessing amenities hassle-free. Parking was convenient with complimentary options, but navigating the dimly lit lot felt cumbersome. If you're not too fussy about hotel experiences, the Priory may suit you, but those seeking a memorable stay could find better value elsewhere. Consider your priorities when booking; there's no shortage of options in the area.
